Half of 2021 is In The Books
If you’re not sure what happened to your June, or your May, for that matter, I’m in the same boat! Where did this year go? I wanted to bring you the latest home project trend- the Backyard/Patio Refresh. Have you updated yours this summer? If so, please send me the photo!! I would love to see it!
Backyard/Patio Refresh!
When designing your backyard paradise, consider:
- Brick pavers or stamped concrete
- Hanging Edison lights- many are now available in solar versions
- Adding an umbrella or sails to offer shade
- If you have a pergola- add curtains to keep sun/bugs out.
- Adding a fire pit- either wood logs or gas
- Separating the spaces to a dining area and lounge area if you have the space
These are my favorite places to shop for updated Patio items, think “furnish for less!”
- Walmart/Target/Meijer- have great finds, many times on sale with their apps.

The HOT, HOT, HOT Real Estate Market
Now that we have wrapped up the 2nd quarter, here’s what we do know from our Chief National Association of Realtors (NAR) Economist, Lawrence Yun.
2021:
- The largest ever price appreciation (15% according to the Case-Schiller price index).
- Price appreciation translates to a $45,000 wealth gain for a typical owner.
- A calming of the real estate market- late autumn into 2022.
- Inventory expected to increase by year's end.

Latest RE News: Eviction Moratorium Ends July 31st
The Supreme Court ruled that the CDC does not have the right to implement an eviction ban.
“This is a massive victory for property rights,” says NAR President Charlie Oppler. “For more than a year, mom-and-pop property owners have been pushed toward financial ruin as they upkeep their properties and pay their taxes and mortgages with no income of their own. With the pandemic waning and the economy improving, it is time to restore the housing sector to its healthy, former function. Property owners also deserved this absolute clarity from our federal court system regarding property rights in America to avoid similar financial harm in the future.”
