The Importance of Curb Appeal
Homes with great curb appeal are shown to sell for 7% more than comparable homes without any. Even if you are not in the market to sell, you still want to look good! Your biggest asset deserves to be the envy of the block. At the very least, you don’t want to be “that neighbor” with the eyesore on the street. Here are three ways to help boost that curb appeal.”
Front Door
Easy Button: Fresh coat of paint and new hardware
Investment: Replace with a custom, modern door
Fun Fact: In Scotland people paint their door red to show they have paid off their mortgage. In Feng Shui, a red front door means “welcome.”
Landscaping
Easy Button: Keep the lawn trimmed. Add bushes like boxwoods that are low maintenance and add mulch. Use solar landscape lighting to brighten the entryway.
Investment: Hire a professional landscaper to design your entryway. Build up a masonry wall, add plants and flowers that work for the amount of light your entrance receives. Add LED landscape lighting.
Fun Fact: An hour of weeding burns 300 calories.
Don’t Forget the Details
There is no Easy Button on this one. This is old-fashioned hard work. Clean out the gutters. Wash the windows inside and out. Make sure window wells are covered. Tuck the hose away. Clean fallen leaves from flower beds. Power wash the driveway and sidewalk. Upgrade your mailbox.
These three strategies will help your home stand out among the others. Send us a photo and let me know what you’ve been doing to boost it!
